a5c7b9f00b A spacecraft travels to a distant planet to rescue the crew of another spaceship that crashed, but their own craft, damaged in the landing, needs repair. Baelon commands the rescue team formed of his rival Cabren, Alluma, Dameia, Quuhod and the rookie Cos. While looking for but not finding survivors from the former expedition, Cos is murdered; however, they cannot leave the planet due to a projected electromagnetic field. Commander Ilvar joins the team to search for the cause of the interference, while Captain Trantor, technician Ranger and cook Kore stay in the craft. One by one, rescue team members are killed in weird situations materialized from their own fears by an ancient alien pyramid. As a lone spaceship proceeds on a rescue mission, its surprised crew encounters a strange pyramid form. Surprise turns to horror as, one by one, they discover their darkest nightmares all starting to become real. The pyramid has to be behind it all somehow, but how can they save themselves from its influence? OH DEAR OH DEAR OH DEAR!!! I have seen bad movies, and some *really* bad movies, but this rather dated looking thing tops my list of &#39;worst movies ever&#39;! This one *has* to be dubbed &#39;To Insult the Intelligence of All Who Dare Watcheth!&#39;<br/><br/>Un original but vaguely interesting &#39;imagined fears comes true&#39; plot line. Amusingly cheesy puppet-operated monsters looked more fake than paper mache animals made by an art class of talented 10 year olds. So-called gory effects were cheap and forgettable. Acting talent by the cast was non existent. <br/><br/>The whole thing was riddled with gaping holes and cliches. And, in some desperate attempt to wake up the (now) sleeping audience who have been subjected to one Alien rip off scene after another… check out the giant maggot raping and sliming and killing the blonde chick. Jaw dropped with disbelief at this completely stupid and repulsive scene!<br/><br/>CONCLUSION? Maggots? NO! Caterpillars? NOOOO!!! Slugs? Get them away from me!!! Avoid this movie if you savior your sanity…. Hmmmm…the budget for &quot;Galaxy of Terror&quot; was $700,000 and the budget for &quot;Star Wars&quot; four years earlier was $11,000,000 (and it was made on the cheap). You&#39;d think that this would be a crappy filma result, which it is, but it&#39;s a very efficiently made and entertaining piece of crap. This is most likely due to the involvement of Roger Corman–a man who was able to make just about any movie profitablelongit had a low budget! <br/><br/>Erin Moran, Ray Walston and Edward Albert (Eddie&#39;s son) star in this one and familiar Corman regular Sid Haig is on handwellfuture Freddy Kruger, Robert Englund. They, along with various other red-shirts arrive on a planet on a rescue mission. The problem is that their ship has crashed and leaving won&#39;t be easy. But it gets MUCH worse when they explore the planet–and they are attacked and killed one after another by all sorts of nasty things. However, over time it becomes obvious that these &#39;things&#39; are actually figments of the crew&#39;s imaginations–thoughts that were implanted in their minds to kill them. Can they manage to survive and get back home? <br/><br/>In many ways, the film looks a lot like &quot;Alien&quot;. It&#39;s dark, creepy and filled with foreboding. It also has SOMETHING picking them off one at a time. The film has a really great mood and look (especially for the money) but it fails to be more because of Corman&#39;s love of cheese–gratuitous nudity that might entertain but also ruins the seriousness of the film. For me, having a giant worm strip and rape a lady crew member was just too much–it just doesn&#39;t get any more gratuitous than that!! Overall, not a bad looking cheap film but one which still manages to be crappy. But, at least you get to see Erin Moran&#39;s head explode…
